Comments by walkers who stayed at Grasmere Independent Hostel in Grasmere on The Coast to Coast Path
This is a brilliant independent hostel which I would thoroughly recommend. It is clean and warm with helpful hosts. The kitchen is well equipped and the dorm rooms were clean and comfortable. Provisions can be bought in Grasmere. The hostel is only a short walk away from the C2C path.

This is a hostel par excellence. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, with everything sparkling clean, and so well organised, with recycling facilities and compost bins etc. Rooms also well laid out, with hand-basins and cupboards for packs, and we had a large clean ensuite reserved just for our 'dorm' of four beds (which we had to ourselves). We were more than happy to be outside the touristy bustle of Grasmere, and for those who didn't wish to self-cater, there's a pub serving meals virtually next door. Can not recommend highly enough!

Stayed in Sept 07, and was very impressed. Lovely place and friendly staff. As has been said before, it's a bit outside Grasmere, so it pays to eat first in the centre, or visit the Co-op and do some food shoppping before going on to the hostel. Swings and roundabouts though as you get the best part of a mile head start on the next days' walk

The two YHAs in Grasmere were full but we really fell on our feet at Broadrayne Farm. Bev and his family have thought of everything. The two of us were in an ensuite dorm for 6. Excellent washing and drying facilities and a superb kitchen area. You need to shop in Grasmere if you want to self cater but if you book ahead Bev will provide simple breakfast ingredients.
A very superior hostel in a beautiful setting, convenient for an early start if necessary

This is a really good hostel. We were in a six bed bunk room with ensuite facilties. It is modern and really clean and smart. You just need to do a spot of shopping in Grasmere before you check in, and you are then ready for a flying start the next morning as Broadrayne Farm is on the route out of the village. You don't need to cook in the evening if you don't want to - the Travellers Rest pub is very close and has good food and beer.

We loved the way this hostel had been so thoughtfully created. It has every facility including a sauna, with everything built using good materials and decorated in keeping with the stone and wood of the buildings. It's easy enough to pick up provisions in Grasmere for breakfast, and to start the next day a little further along the route.
