|Comments by walkers who stayed at Frith Lodge in Keld on The James Herriot Way|
A friend and I stayed at Frith Lodge when we were walking the Herriot Way in July 2016. If you are walking this path, the Pennine Way (goes past the bottom of the driveway) or the Coast to Coast long distance paths, or just walking in the Yorkshire Dales around Keld then I highly recommend Frith Lodge to stay. The rooms are lovely and have everything that you will want: comfortable beds, television, tea & coffee making with homemade biscuits, lovely bathroom and gorgeous views across the Dales. They have a drying room and are able to do your washing. They provide packed lunches. Ideal place to stay for walkers.
But what made this place special was how welcoming the hosts, Karen & Neil, were. We were late arriving and as there was no signal with our service provider we couldn't ring ahead. But Karen and her dad came out looking for us - thankfully we arrived on the Pennine Way near to Frith Lodge just as they were driving out. We didn't expect that and it was nice that they cared. Have the dinner there as the food truly is delicious. I am a vegetarian, my friend isn't, but Karen was able to cater for both of us. They have a licensed bar and the prices were reasonable. There is a separate lounge for guests to relax in which a nice facility to use after a long day walking. Both Karen and Neil are very hospitable, and are walkers themselves so know the area and can give advice on routes.
