Comments by walkers who stayed at Dalesman Country Inn in Sedbergh on The Dales Way
Was initially given a small room without any windows so upgraded to a larger room over looking the road. It was a very nice room but not worth 100 a night. The evening meal was superb
as usual but the breakfast was probably the worst we have ever had.
Would look at staying else where next time.

We thought the Dalesman was terrific. Great room, spacious, with skylights and a very comfortable bed and sitting area. Really excellent showers, a welcome sight after a rainy day. Breakfast was also excellent, including yogurt and muesli, and cooked breakfast of your choice, although the service at breakfast was inexplicably slow. We thought the food for dinner in the pub was very overpriced. However, the room and breakfast were such a bargain (70 pounds for us) that the overall bill was an excellent value. They also packed us very substantial lunches for 5.50 each.

Spacious room full of chacacter (beams etc) -very modern bathroom. Good breakfast but a long wait for the evening meal and when it arrived one wonders why there was such a long wait! -It was uninspired but quite expensive.

Slightly more expensive than other accomodation on the Dales Way but WELL worth the extra money - we had a great room with a very comfortable bed and a large bath which was much appreciated. Food great. Would definitely recommend staying here.

Initially seemed a little desolate when we arrived in mid-afternoon but once the evening clientele started arriving seemed more jolly. Enjoyed a selection of beer and cider and a nice steak and ale pie. Comfortable bed, loads of hot water and a spacious bathroom. Fancy tea-caddy for morning tea. Full breakfast set us up for the rest of the day. A little impersonal.

Comfortable rooms, wide choice of breakfasts.

Good evening meals and range of beers and wines.

Easy access to the route from the rear of the hotel.

We would recommend this place if your are staying in Sedbergh

The best accommodation overall on our Dales Way journey. The room was superb (plenty of room, large comfortable bed, excellent bathroom) and the evening meal and breakfast couldn't be faulted. Highly recommended.

By the way if you want to shorten the next day's walk, rather than go into Sedbergh at the first opportunity (Millthrop Bridge) continue round to Lincoln Inn's Bridge. We got a taxi from there from Woof's of Sedbergh (01539 620414) into the town and then back out the following morning.

Very nice room, though a bit noisy from the bar directly below until about midnight. Slightly more expensive than other places we stayed at, but good quality throughout.

Myself and 6 others stayed one night 5th April, room was great and the meal was very good. Only complaint arrived wet and muddy felt uncomfortable about taking boots to room but no other place to put them. I would have thought being in such lovely walking area a drying room or somewhere for boots even newspaper to put down would be useful.

Stayed one night July 09. Excellent room - very well furnished and very comfy bed after a hard day's walking. Evening meal very pleasant; breakfast fine. Location is well into Sedbergh so slightly off the route (and uphill at end of day). Not cheap but very good night's sleep despite amorous guests above.

A good quality inn. The room was well designed with room to sit and read as well as the bed, shower etc. Food was superb and service excellent.

We too arrived drenched and were delighted with a comfortable family room - which became our drying room - and good value. Smart bar and restaurant, good food and breakfast. Lots of bookshops and cafes in Sedbergh (I know you're supposed to be walking!) so felt like return to civilisation after the Station Inn.

Stayed here on 31st March whilst walking the Dales Way for charity with a freind. Fantastic room and as a chef myself, the evening meals were out of this world, absolutly great. Huge choices of breakfast, the full English set us off for the day, there being nowhere to have lunch before our next stop at Burneside. Very highly recommended place to stay with very helpful staff.

Excellent room in the Inn itself. WELL ABOVE average restaurant - excellent food. We arrived like drowned rats and the staff could not have been more helpful. Highly recommended.

Watch out for Seburgh school rugby match weekends - accomodation hard to get, especially in the Dalesman and essential to book in the restaurant which seems, deservedly so, very popular.

Four of us walked the Dalesway walk in May 2008.
The accommodation was excellent, the bedrooms clean with plenty of space.
We ate in the pub and the food was excellent.
Will stay tere again, highly reccommended.

Had stayed in the luxurious Dalesman in 1997 but couldnt get in this time so we had to stay in their cottage down the road. Adequate space inside the cottage though it seemed a little run down and could do with the sort of interior modernisation the Dalesman Inn enjoys, though our perceptions may have been coloured by the previous nights stay in the excellent Camm Farm which is a hard act to follow. We went to the local Spar to get some pizzas and wine and made ourselves a nice little meal, and made good use of the ironing board to recycle our walking clothes to a more civillised standard.

All in all the cottage provided an average standard of accommodation which doesnt live up to the far higher standard of rooms available inside the inn itself.

Stayed here 26.6.07 while walking The Dalesway. Lovely comfortable room and hot powerful shower; very welcome for aching muscles! Ate a good evening meal here too. The breakfast which was offered looked amazing but a bit much for my appetite so I chose field mushrooms on toast which was a lovely start to the day.

The best food we had on the walk. Rooms small but comfortable. Busy, noisy pub.

We enjoyed our stay here at the Dalesman. Large room with ensuite most comfortable on the route. Nice beer and evening meal, had a great night here and Sedbergh itself is well worth a visit. Large breakfast and friendly staff Top marks Left 12 May 2006

We arrived Wednesday 5.00 at the end of Market Day and the place looked a typical town pub. By 7.00 it had become a pub restaurant with excellent steaks and very good beer. Rooms very comfortable and roomy with newly refurbished bathrooms. Highly recommended.

Moved from Bull Hotel to here at short notice on 12th April. Best place we stayed at by a long way. The separate small cottage was excellent value and very comfortable. The Dalesmen meals (inc half price organic beef on Wednesday) were excellent, service second to none and Dalesman beer the finest tasted on the walk. Not one to be missed.

Didn't respond to attempted email room booking.
Heaving and not very interested in 4 people for food after 8.00. Try the Posthorn Cafe for excellent evening meal - take your own wine.
