| Comments by walkers who stayed at Butt House in Keld on The Pennine Way | |
| From the moment my very muddy and soaking dog was swathed in white towels when we arrived, I felt cared for and welcome. The room was lovely and the food extremely good. It really made a difference that all the guests ate round a table together so we could swap Pennine Way stories. Max the dog was even given his own breakfast of sausage and scrambled eggs. This wasn't the cheapest venue on route, but it was probably the best. | |

| Having stayed at Keld Lodge in the past, Butt House was better value and quieter. Very small but comfortable room, little room for luggage/hanging space. Comfortable lounge. Had to take evening meal at Lodge at Butt House cook was standing in for chef. Uninspiring but sufficient breakfast. Friendly hosts. Anne & Colin left 01/06/2011 | |

| At £40 for B&B without dinner this was the most expensive B&B on my PWay but there isn't much choice if you are travelling solo and want to stay in Keld. However, having decided to eat in, the evening meal was truly excellent and the large glass of house wine was reasonably priced, so good value. I also appreciated that my ensuite contained a bath that I could soak in and the room had a digital TV so I could catch up with the world outside. | |

| It is really sad to see that following the sale of Keld YHA there is now no budget accommodation option in Keld. The new owners of what was the YHA have also bought Butt House and the only option for those walking the Pennine Way or Coast to Coast is to camp, or to dig deep. Whilst the room at Butt House was of a high standard, it was more expensive than other B&Bs en-route that were just as good. The owner and staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. However, we couldn't help feeling disappointed after seeing the bill the following day and discovering we'd been charged over the odds for a bottle of wine to accompany our meal and an average packed lunch. | |

| My friend and I stayed for one very comfortable night before heading off to Bowes. The accommodation was first class. The evening meal, and breakfast were excellent. Well done to our hosts. | |

| Fantastic place to stay. A warm welcome, lovely food with choice of menus for the evening meal and breakfast, very reasonably priced alcohol with the evening meal and an en-suite bath. | |

| What can you say about Butt House that isn't wreathed in superlatives. If you get the chance to book, do so without hesitation. The food is exceptional and way beyond even the very best B&B standard. The warm Yorkshire welcome and the tea and cakes (that description is almost insulting) is worth the booking on its own. The table settings and the opportunity to discuss the days walking with guests from all over the world who have all heard of Butt House is a special reason for being there. Very special. Very walker friendly. Highly recomended. | |
