| Comments by walkers who stayed at Buck Inn Hotel in Chopgate on The Cleveland Way | |
| There are no easy options for accommodation at the end of this day on the Cleveland Way. They all involve a walk from the trail. However, The Buck exceeded our expectations. The room was fine, but not luxurious, and the accommodation wing looked a bit tired, but all ok for a couple of blokes after a hard days walk. The food and beer, however, were excellent. The menu was surprisingly imaginative, the service good, and the breakfast the next morning was top-notch. They also made us a packed lunch, which was essential in view of the distance to the next food-stop. The hosts are trying hard, and the restaurant was pretty busy for such an isolated spot. | |

| We had the pleasure of staying a few nights at the Buck Inn in April 2011. Wolfgang and Helen (and Bonny the beautiful black giant Schnauzer) were very welcoming and hospitable. Wolfgang and Helen are trying to introduce a more sophisticated international menu with more interesting options on the normal bar menu and regular international theme nights (Italian, Spanish etc). We experienced the Spanish cuisine evening, which also featured a hosted Spanish wine tasting to accompany each course... an excellent night! The accommodation and food was excellent and we enjoyed toasting our toes in front of the open fire after travelling down from the Scottish Highlands. Overall, highly recommended. | |
