Comments by walkers who stayed at Balcony House in Kendal on The Dales Way

Very comfortable and friendly B&B.
Brian collected us from Burneside only 10 minutes after our call. He even offered to drive us in to Kendal in the evening or collect us if we need to rest our legs!
The room was large and had a very good shower. Great breakfast.
Brian then dropped us back to the point that we had left the dales way the previous evening.
A small word of warning… a little bird told us that the last day would only take 3 hours and have no ascent. This is not strictly true. After a gentle & quick first 3 miles, the path steadily climbs & then climbs a little bit more.
Would definitely recommend.

Very clean and comfortable and excellent breakfast. Brian was very obliging, picked us up at the end of our walk at Grayrigg and took us into Kendal in the evening - 2 journeys - . We can really recommend this place.

A very clean and comfortable B&B with a lovely breakfast. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and picked us up from the A6 late in the afternoon to take us into Kendal and returned us to the Dalesway the next morning after breakfast.

A very comfortable stay. The room was large and a king size bed. Good breakfast and very obliging hosts - picked us up and dropped us off from Dales Way.

We had previously asked if we could be picked up on the A6 after a long day's walk from Sedbergh. We rang Brian just before we reached the road and he was with us in 5 minutes. What service! He also offered to run us to a church in Kendal we wanted to go to, even though we only asked him for directions! Again, he ran us back to the start of the next day's walk the next morning. Comfortable room and very nice breakfast.
Well recommended.

Following our trek, Mandy was on hand to ferry us to her comfortable house. The acommodation was excellent. Kendal centre was a mere 10 mins walk where we enjoyed Italian cuisine which was especially welcome after a diet of pub food for several days. Breakfast was beautifully prepared and set us up for the final leg to Bowness. Brian transported us to the start of the section of the Dales Way which was a great help. Highly recommended.

Above and beyond the call of duty! We had pre-arranged to call the owners when we got to the A6 for them to pick us up. However an after arduous day's walk we decided to cut short and when we got to one of the other A roads leading to Kendal we called them. By then they were getting worried and Brian was already out looking for us. His wife immediately said she would call him then called us back to say he was on his way to be with us in 10 minutes!

We got to the B&B, again we could not find fault with the room, the hospitality and breakfast the next morning. Oh and to top it a huge packed lunch to take with us. Brian again took us in his car back to where we left off the previous evening.

The owners were really good at offering suggestions for an evening meal, we were longing for a curry after several nights of pub grub.

To sum up: If you are passing through or near Kendal Balcony House is a definite must!

Absolutely fantastic B + B. Picked us up from the A6 at the end of a long day and dropped us off there the following morning. Breakfast was one of the best all week and the owners welcoming and friendly.

Highly recommended - not only did they pick us up from the starting point and take us back there the next day, but also gave us a lift to Oxenholme station when we got back from Windermere. Given that we were absolutely dripping wet at the time, this was well beyond the call of duty and much appreciated!

Room, house and breakfast also lovely.

Had a very pleasant stay here on our last leg of the Dales Way walk. Facilities very sophisticated. Room small but very clean and comfortable and had all the little extras that make it special: selection of hot drinks and snacks in the room, fluffy white towels, excellent breakfast and what made it for us was a lift from our route to the B&B and back again the next morning. Evening meal again excellent at the local recommended pub (with 10% discount), 100 yards down the road. Would highly recommend.
