This is a small market town of considerable charm and character near the shore of Morecambe Bay, a largely tidal arm of the Irish Sea, which is linked to the town by a short canal, now disused. Many features of historical interest are preserved in the town, most notably the cobbled market square and surrounding narrow streets. There are also reminders of the former textile milling industry. Tourism has begun to make its mark on Ulverston, with shops serving hikers and bikers and the Laurel and Hardy Museum. There is a famous brewery located in Ulverston and the local brew is widely available in south Cumbria.
Church Walk House; a Grade II* Listed Building is in the heart of Ulverston's historic Market Town. Close by are excellent restaurants, pubs, shops, cafes, the Coronation Hall and the Laurel and Hardy Museum. The Railway Station and Bus connections are just a few minutes walk.

The Bay Horse Hotel is often described as a hidden gem, with outstanding views of the Levens Estuary all the way to Morecambe Bay. We're known for our warm welcome, good food and great service. It's also a place of historical importance, as this was where the coach and horses would have made their treacherous trip across the sands to Lancaster in days gone by.
